KYNE Appoints Darcy Sawatzki as SVP to Expand L.A. Office and U.S. Public Health Business
Appointment emblematic of rapid growth for agency across U.S. and EMEA regions
August 16, 2017

Los Angeles, August 16, 2017 – KYNE, a specialty health communications agency, today announced the appointment of Darcy Sawatzki as senior vice president in Los Angeles, reflecting the agency’s commitment to expanding its presence in the public health sector and growth of its L.A. office. Sawatzki brings nearly 20 years of experience in public health, social marketing, and campaign development, implementation, and evaluation. In addition to leading U.S. public health new business efforts, Sawatzki will also help manage West Coast client engagements, office operations and will report to Wendy Woods-Williams, executive vice president and general manager of the L.A. office.
“Darcy embodies KYNE’s core values as a passionate, creative and collaborative professional and her addition to the team underlines our commitment to driving meaningful public health communications and further expanding our West Coast presence,” said David Kyne, founder and CEO of KYNE. “The addition of Darcy comes at a time of rapid growth for the company as we continue to add new and diverse talent to our Dublin, New York and L.A. offices.”
Sawatzki, formerly of Hager Sharp in Washington, D.C., where she spent the last 18 years, previously led the “Best Bones Forever!” campaign, which used social marketing to improve bone-healthy behavior in adolescent girls and won PRSA’s Silver Anvil Award in 2012. She also oversaw communications projects for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health and the U.S. Department of Food and Nutrition Service Women, Infants, and Children breastfeeding campaign. Sawatzki recently won the Generation Hope 2017 “Sponsor of the Year” Award for her role as mentor, scholarship provider and champion for two teen mothers, both of whom were striving to earn college degrees.
“I am so excited to take on this new adventure here in California, and have the opportunity to be a part of the KYNE family,” said Sawatzki. “When I met with the team I could immediately feel the passion for the work—it was clear that they’re committed to making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. I look forward to working with and expanding our current clients, as well as fostering and growing our awesome L.A. team.”
Amy Burstyn Promoted to SVP in New York
KYNE has also promoted New York-based Amy Burstyn to senior vice president. Burstyn’s appointment reflects her tremendous impact on the agency’s business since joining in 2015, through motivating and leading teams, building client relationships, delivering creative programs, and supporting overall business development.
